7.  If the above all checks out, then you want to check the mover’s insurance to be certain that they are adequately covered (and so are your belongings), in addition to their workers, etc.

8.  Next, you will want to call the FMCSA’s Safety Violation and Consumer Complaints hotlineat 888-368-7238 and ask about any history of any complaints filed against the moving company. If you haven’t done so already, you can also check with the Better Business Bureau (org).

9.  Now that you have completed your research, you can feel confident in making your selection. Make sure that you call the company you have selected and confirm the details of your move and get a signed agreement which you should also review for accuracy.

10. Prepare for your move and be ready to go when they arrive to load the truck! Make sure that you get a written copy of the mover’s inventory list after they have loaded the truck so you can be certain all items arrive safely and are unloaded at your new home.
